BEFORE USING YOUR FARBERWARE®
DUAL THERMAL CARAFE COFFEE MAKER
In order to assure perfect tasting coffee, thoroughly clean both
Thermal Carafes, Thermal Carafe Covers and Filter Baskets in warm,
soapy water, before using your Coffee Maker. Rinse well and dry
thoroughly. Wipe unit with a soft, slightly damp cloth or sponge to
remove any packing dust.
CAUTION: Never immerse the appliance, cord or plug in water or
other liquid.
Before brewing coffee for the first time, allow cold water to cycle
through your Coffee Maker without coffee or the use of a paper
filter; this will clean the Water Reservoir prior to your first use.
IMPORTANT: Always use cold water when brewing coffee.
COFFEE FILTERS
Cone-shaped paper filters are available locally at grocery stores and
where Coffee Makers are sold. Standard #2 cone-shaped filters
should be used. Permanent gold filters may also be purchased,
eliminating the need for disposable papers filters.
The use of basket-style paper filters is not recommended, since they
do not conform to the shape of the Filter Basket and may cause
coffee to back up and spill over during brewing.

BREWING COFFEE
Your Dual Carafe Coffee Maker is a 2-in-1 unit. Each side works inde-
pendently of the other. You can choose to brew 2 pots at once, or
1 at a time.
NOTE: The amount of brewed coffee will always be less than the
amount of water placed into Coffee Maker, since about 10% is
absorbed by coffee grounds and filter.
1. Be sure both Power Switches are in the OFF (“O”) position.
2. Plug Coffee Maker into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
3. Fill 1 or both Thermal Carafes with cold water. These Carafes hold
approximately 32 ounces of water each.
NOTE: FILL CARAFES TO 1/2 INCH BELOW THE MOUTH OF THE
CARAFE. DO NOT FILL CARAFES TO THE VERY TOP.
4. Lift the Water Reservoir Covers and carefully pour water into 1 or
both of the Water Reservoirs. Close Covers.
NOTE: DO NOT FILL PAST THE “FILL HOLE” IN THE WATER RESER-
VOIR AS THIS WILL CAUSE WATER TO SPILL FROM UNIT.
5. Place Filter Basket(s) securely onto 1 or both of the Thermal Carafes.
6. Place a paper #2 cone-shaped filter(s) into 1 or both of the
Filter Baskets.
7. Fill 1 or both Filters with desired amount of coffee. Add 1 level
tablespoon of coffee for each cup of coffee desired. If using a
scoop, use 1 scoop (equivalent to 2 tablespoons) for every 2 cups of
coffee. Increase or decrease the amount of coffee used to suit your
individual taste.
8. Place the Filter Basket Cover(s) onto 1 or both of the Filter Baskets.

BREWING COFFEE
(Continued)
9. Carefully grasp the Handle of the Thermal Carafe(s) to move
Filter Basket(s) with Cover(s) and place in position on the
Non-Stick Warming Plate. (See Figure 1)
10. Press the Power Switch(es) to the ON (“I”) position. When
pressed, the Switch will illuminate, indicating the brewing
process has started.
11. After the brewing process has finished,
remove the Carafe(s) from the Warming
Plate(s) and press the Power Switch(es) OFF
(“O”). Carefully grasp the Filter Basket(s) by
the Handle, remove from Thermal Carafe(s)
and discard the coffee grounds.
12. Place the Thermal Carafe Cover(s) onto the Carafe and close it
tightly. To serve coffee, turn the Lid(s) counter-clockwise, a
slight turn, until the arrow is pointing directly at the handle of
each Thermal Carafe.
NOTE: The non-stick coated Dual Warming Plate which holds the
Thermal Carafes is specially designed to maintain a lower
temperature which will not harm the Thermal Carafes. It is safe
to keep the Thermal Carafes on the Warming Plate after the
brewing is complete. The Plate will get hotter during the brew
cycle, but will cool considerably upon completion.
WARNING: Warming Plate is hot! Do not touch Warming Plate
during or after brewing.
BREWING A THIRD POT OF COFFEE
It is recommended that the Coffee Maker should be in OFF (“O”)
position for 10 minutes between cycles, in order to allow unit to
cool. While unit is in OFF position, dispose of used coffee filter(s),
and rinse Thermal Carafe(s), Filter Basket(s) and Filter Basket
Cover(s) in water. Place fresh filter(s) into 1 or both of the Filter
Baskets. Repeat brewing procedure.
IMPORTANT: If Coffee Maker is not allowed to cool before
immediate repeated use, water placed in Carafes may become
overheated. A spray of steam could be released from openings,
creating a risk of burns.

HINTS FOR GREAT TASTING COFFEE
• A clean Coffee Maker is essential for making great tasting
coffee. Regular cleaning is highly recommended.
• Always use fresh, cold water in your Coffee Maker.
• Finer drip grinds promote fuller extraction and provide rich,
full-bodied coffee. Regular grind will require slightly more
coffee per cup to provide the strength of a finer grind.
• Store coffee in a cool, dry place. Once coffee has been opened,
keep it tightly sealed in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
• For optimum coffee, buy whole beans and grind them finely
just before brewing.
• Do not re-use coffee grounds since this will greatly impair
coffee flavor.
• Reheating coffee is not recommended. Coffee is at its peak
flavor immediately after brewing.
• Small oil droplets on the surface of brewed, black coffee is due
to the extraction of oil from the coffee grounds. Oiliness may
occur more frequently if heavily roasted coffees are used.
Overextraction may also cause oiliness, indicating a need to
clean your Coffee Maker.
Your Dual Thermal Coffee Maker is the perfect solution for
households that prefer 2 separate blends of coffee. Now you
can offer family and friends caffeinated or decaffeinated coffee
prepared at the same time! Choose from coffee varieties and a
wide array of flavored coffees.

BREWING TEA
This unit is ideal for serving a “mixed” crowd: tea drinkers and
coffee drinkers. When brewing tea, make sure that your Filter
Basket and Carafe are thoroughly clean. If the unit has been used
previously for coffee, wash the pieces with warm, soapy water and
rinse well. Follow directions for making coffee except instead of
putting coffee in the Filter Basket, place loose tea into the paper
filter. For your first pot of tea, we suggest 1 level teaspoon of loose
tea per cup. Adjust the strength by using more or less tea.
USER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Any servicing requiring disassembly other than cleaning must be
performed by a qualified appliance repair technician.
CARING FOR YOUR CARAFE
A damaged Carafe may result in possible burns from hot liquid.
To avoid breaking a Carafe:
1. Do not allow all liquid to evaporate from Carafe while on
the Warming Plate. Do not heat Carafe when empty. If this
happens, discard Carafe.
2. Discard Carafe if damaged in any manner. A chip or crack
could result in breakage.
3. Never use abrasive scouring pads or cleansers as they will
scratch and weaken the glass.
4. Do not place the Carafe on or near a hot gas or electric burner,
in a heated oven, or in a microwave.
5. Avoid rough handling and sharp blows.
6. Do not clean Thermal Carafes in the dishwasher. The glass liners
cannot withstand the pressure and may break.
9

TO CLEAN
After regular use:
Unplug from outlet and allow unit to cool for 10 minutes.
Thoroughly clean Thermal Carafes, Thermal Carafe Covers and Filter
Baskets in warm soapy water. Rinse well and dry thoroughly. Wipe
unit with a soft cloth to dry.
Once a month:
Since mineral deposits from tap water can form a coating in the
Coffee Maker, causing slower brewing times and possibly affecting
the flavor of the coffee, we recommend the following cleaning:
Pour 8 ounces of vinegar into each of the Thermal Carafes and fill
each Carafe with cold water. Carefully pour the water from each of
the Carafes into each of the Water Reservoirs. Without coffee or
filter paper, switch the unit to the ON (“I”) position and let the
water run through the unit into the Thermal Carafes. Discard water
after it has run through the machine. Rinse thoroughly.
Do not use any chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
IMPORTANT: Do not clean Thermal Carafes in the dishwasher.
The glass liners cannot withstand the pressure and may break.
Never immerse the appliance, cord or plug in water or any
other liquid.
TO STORE
Unplug appliance, and allow to cool. There is a convenient Cord
Storage area at the back of the machine. Simply feed the cord
inside the storage area and store in its box or in a clean, dry place.
